One Obama Minute

As we watched Obama’s speech this afternoon (me for the third time, G for the first time since he finally had to go to bed at 10:30 last night) he turned to me and asked,

“How does he know everything?”

And as I wiped the tears from my eyes (again, you would think I could watch this without crying the third time around) all I could say is

“I don’t know G, I don’t know.”

Everyone is saying that you will always remember where you were when it was clear that Obama was the next president, and I will. But I will also remember a quiet Wednesday afternoon, watching this proud’s man speech that somehow affected my three-year old enough that he actually SAT down and watched it for five minutes. Until G realized that EVEN Obama’s daughters were getting a puppy (G’s current and very passionate campaign), and then our minute was over, as he frowned and stomped off.

But my hope and largest wish is that like me, G will remember his Obama minute.
